Edgerton High’s surge has taken the hot-shooting Crimson Tide to the top in Rock Valley girls basketball.
The visiting Tide overcame a first-quarter deficit to down Whitewater, 58-40, and grab the undisputed North Division lead in the only conference game played Tuesday night.
While hitting nine three-point goals, Edgerton (9-7) notched its fifth straight Rock Valley win and improved to 8-3 in the conference. That gave the Tide a half-game lead over McFarland (7-3), a victim of Edgerton’s eight three-point goals last week.
Edgerton used a 19-10 advantage in the second quarter to wipe out the Whippets’ 13-10 lead. The Tide expanded its 29-22 halftime lead to 44-34 in the third quarter.
Brooke Ferrell and Meggie Schmidt led Edgerton with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Ferrell had four three-point goals, and Schmidt had two.
Kelsey Harms had 11 points to pace Whitewater (6-10, 6-6), a 49-46 winner over Edgerton in their first meeting this season.
