Burlington Demons top Whitewater Whippets

Whitewater High couldn’t contain host Burlington in a 64-54 loss in nonconference boys basketball Monday.

The Whippets trailed only 29-26 at the half, but the Demons rolled to a 21-12 third-quarter advantage for a 50-38 lead.

David Shears scored 16 points for Whitewater (7-11), while teammate Tony Bilderback added 12. Travis Crayton scored 20 points for Burlington (13-4).

26-point peformance by Wilmot’s Chris Nelson to knock off the host Panthers

(3-13, 0-9) in a Southern Lakes makeup game.

Ben Roetten had 21 points to lead Union Grove, which pulled away from a 29-25 halftim edge with a 20-10 advantage in the third quarter.
