— A benefit is set for Sunday to help the Bertagnoli family of Janesville pay medical expenses for their son Caleb, who died Dec. 16.

The benefit will include a performance by Elvis Presley tribute artist Jesse Aron. It is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, at the Pontiac Convention Center, 2809 N. Pontiac Drive, Janesville.

Caleb, 5, died three days after a tack became lodged in his throat. He went into cardiac arrest and lost oxygen to his brain for about 15 minutes. Efforts to save him at two hospitals failed.

Hundreds of people around the country had been praying for Caleb through Internet prayer chains. After he died, his parents, Dan and LeAnn Bertagnoli, decided to donate Caleb’s organs, hoping to save other parents the pain of losing a child.

The benefit will include a silent auction and deejay. Aron and the ExSpence Account Band will perform starting at 2 p.m.

Cost is $15 per person and $25 per couple. Children will be admitted free.

A fund has been set up to help the Bertagnolis. To contribute, visit the Janesville branches of Johnson Bank at 1 S. Main St., 2021 Holiday Drive or 1309 N. Wright Road.
