Mount Horeb nips Evansville girls; Monroe rolls over Freeport

Mount Horeb enjoyed its parade to the foul line in the fourth quarter of its nonconference girls basketball game against visiting Evansville on Saturday.


The visiting Blue Devils did not.


The Vikings shot 30 free throws in the fourth quarter to help hold off the Blue Devils, 54-50.


Mount Horeb’s Jamie Hoernke shot 18 free throws in the final quarter and finished 14 of 24 from the line en route to a 21-point game. The Vikings (4-12) were 21 of 39 from the line in the game.


Mallorie Phaline had 14 points, and Sydney Westrick added 12 for the Blue Devils (1-13).
