Jets win in a shootout

— The Janesville Jets worked overtime for a win Saturday night.

After the Jets and the Alpena IceDiggers remained tied at 2-2 following a 5-minute overtime, Rui Encarnacao and Ethan Nauman converted during the shootout to give Janesville’s first-year expansion team a 3-2 NAHL win at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.

Janesville (20-16-3), which got a second-period goal from Nauman and a game-tying goal in the third from Jordan Bancroft, is now nine points behind Motor City for second place in the NAHL North Division.

Matt Wichorek stopped 25 shots in picking up the win, and also denied the IceDiggers four times in the shootout.

With the teams tied a a game apiece, they will conclude the three-game series at 2 p.m. today at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.
