Sam McCann and Philip McCarthy helped Milton High earn its second Badger South boys basketball victory of the season Friday night.


McCann had 11 points, and McCarthy added 10 to lead the visiting Red Hawks past host Fort Atkinson, 58-41.


Milton (3-13, 2-7)) built a 44-21 lead through three quarters.


Derek Stark led Fort Atkinson (0-8, 2-15) with 13 points.

? n Edgewood 50, Monona Grove 48—The Crusaders erased an 11-point deficit with a 15-0 run to take the lead in the fourth quarter and protected their Badger South lead.


Spencer Brink made 7 of 11 free throws in the fourth quarter to keep Edgewood (10-6, 8-1) on top. Monona Grove (10-7, 6-3) had a chance to tie it but missed a pair of free throws in the final moments.


Brink finished with 11 points, while teammate Austin Arians added 10 points for the Crusaders. Zach Zweifel scored a game-high 19 points for Monona Grove before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Jake Retzlaff added 15 points.

n Monroe 50, Oregon 47—Bryan Tordfoff and Michael Barrett led the way with 18 points apiece as Monroe (12-3, 7-2) squeezed past the visiting Panthers (3-12, 2-6) to remain a game behind first-place Edgewood in the Badger South.


The Cheesemakers had an 18-10 lead after the first quarter, but they needed an 11-9 edge in the final period to hold off Oregon.

n Baraboo 39, Stoughton 36—Baraboo (9-6) came from behind to defeat visitng Stoughton (8-9) in a Badger crossover nonconference game.


Trailing by three points after three quarters, Baraboo outscored the Vikings 16-10 for the victory. Mark Kowalke led the Thunderbirds with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.
