Milton won’t go away in Badger South, other scores

Milton High’s girls basketball team is keeping the heat on Monroe.

The Red Hawks pulled away in the second half Thursday for a 58-41 Badger South Conference win over Fort Atkinson to pull within a half-game of the Cheesemakers (15-0, 8-0).

Milton (14-1, 8-1) led by five at half but outscored Fort Atkinson (5-11, 1-8) 17-8 in the third to take a double digit lead.

Amber Davis led a balanced scoring attack for the Red Hawks with 16 points, while Liz Eide and Ashley Roherty added 11 points each.

Lexi Weigand paced the Blackhawks with 15 points.

-- Edgewood 49, Monona Grove 43—Madison Edgewood (10-5, 5-4) used a 19-11 advantage in free throws to slip past visiting Monona Grove (6-10, 3-5) in a Badger South battle for third place.

Mackenzie Reese led the Crusaders’ balanced attack with 12 points, and Emily Schmitz matched that total for Monona Grove, which rallied from a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter.

-- Monroe 51, Sauk Prairie 32—Six players scored for Monroe (15-0) in 15-6 first quarter that sent the state’s top-ranked Division 2 team on its way to victory in a nconference matchup of the Badger’s first-first teams.

Ashley Hermanson led the Cheesemakers with a 16-point game, Jamie Armstrong added 15. Kelsey Budd had 14 for Sauk Prairie (13-3).
