Errant free throws doom Elkhorn, other scores

Missed free throws doomed the Elkhorn High School girls basketball team Thursday night.

The Elks made only 6 of 17 free throws and fell at Burlington, 45-37, in Southern Lakes Conference action.

Sarah Woellert scored 13 points for the Elks (3-6 in the SLC, 7-9 overall).

Cassi McCarthy led the Demons with 18 points as Burlington broke a seven game losing streak and improved to 3-6, 4-12.

-- Waterford 59, Westosha 47—The visiting Wolverines (15-1, 8-1) remained tied for first place in the Southern Lakes by pulling away in the second half.

Jenny Carriveau had 16 points to lead the Wolverines, while Faith Lois of Westosha (8-6, 3-6) finished with a game-high 20 points.
