Ripon College sweeps Beloit

BELOIT — The Ripon College men’s basketball team went on a 6-0 run in the final minute to defeat Beloit College, 74-68, in a Midwest Conference game at Flood Arena on Tuesday night.

The game was tied for the sixth time at 68 with 1:25 left before the Red Hawks scored the final six points of the game.

Beloit went on an 8-0 run to take a 64-63 lead with 3:04 remaining.

The Red Hawks regained a four-point lead at 68-64, but the Bucs responded with four free throws by Travis Towns to get within one with 1:25 left.

Derek Carrier scored 22 points, David Bremner added 19 and Towns had 16 for the Bucs.

Beloit plays a pair of league games this weekend, hosting Knox College on Friday night at 7, and Grinnell College on Saturday afternoon.

Ripon (13-4, 9-1) made 20 of 23 free throws for the game, and got a game-high 22 points from Jessica DeHamer.

Beloit (6-12, 4-7) was led by Sarah Stariha’s 15 points.
