Milton girls deny Jefferson, other scores

Jefferson High girls basketball team has not had a good week.


One day after dropping a


38-36 Rock Valley Conference game to Orfordville Parkview on a three-pointer with three seconds left, the Eagles lost a nonconference game to visiting Milton, 39-37, Tuesday night.


The Eagles (9-5) also lost an overtime game at Edgerton,


52-43, last Friday, giving them three straight defeats.


Milton’s Liz Eide saved the victory by blocking Jefferson’s final shot in the post.


Morgan Blumer scored 11 points for the Red Hawks (12-1), who have won seven straight.


Danielle Janny led the Eagles with 10 points. Jessica Splittgerber was held to seven.

-- Fort Atkinson 63, Edgerton 55—A pair of sophomore guards, Maddie Bare and Marie Fitzgerald, helped Fort Atkinson down visiting Edgerton in a nonconference game.


Bare and Fitzgerald each scored 13 points. Bare had 10 points in the second quarter to help Fort to a 22-6 advantage and a 33-23 halftime lead. Fitzgerald had eight in the fourth quarter for Fort (5-10).


Whitney Oren and Meggie Schmidt each had 10 points for the Crimson Tide (7-7).
