The Badger women fall at home to Northwestern Sunday

— The University of Wisconsin women’s basketball team flourished for the first 20 minutes of Sunday’s Big Ten Conference game against Northwestern.

The second half, the Badgers floundered.

Northwestern started the second half with a 22-6 surge en route to a 68-62 win in front of 6,171 at the Kohl Center.

Wisconsin (16-6, 6-5) led by 14 in the first half and 32-27 at halftime, but was outscored, 41-30, the rest of the way in losing at home for only third time this season.

The Wildcats (13-9, 4-7) opened with a 6-2 run to pull within one point in the first two minutes of the second half. When Kendall Hackney converted a three-point play with 16:55 left, Northwestern went ahead, 36-34, for its first lead since early in the game.

Wisconsin outscored Northwestern 11-2 over the last 1:56 to pull within five.

The Wildcats shot 51.2 percent (27-of-57) on field goals and 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from three-point range. Both were season highs for UW foes.

Amy Jaeschke led Northwestern with 20 points.

Junior Lin Zastrow of Jefferson led the Badgers with a career-high 19 points, while Alyssa Karel had 16.

Wisconsin plays at Minnesota on Thursday night.

-- Indiana 67, (4) Ohio State 62—Jori Davis scored 19 points and Danilsa Andujar added the go-ahead basket with 3:45 left to help Indiana (12-10, 5-6) upset Ohio State.

Jantel Lavender led the Buckeyes (21-3, 9-2) with 20 points and 15 rebounds, but had just three points in the second half.

Andrea Walker added 15 points, Samantha Prahalis 14 and Johnson 11 for Ohio State, which lost for the second time in three games.
