Wisconsin routs Massachusetts 5-1

— Podge Turnbull had two goals and Frankie Simonelli had a goal and two assists Thursday as Wisconsin cruised past Massachusetts 5-1 in men's college hockey.

The Badgers (11-7-3) jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the second period. T.J. Snyder stopped the run with Massachusetts' only goal at 6:59 of the second period.

Turnbull scored in the first period and added his seventh goal of the season in the third.

Wisconsin, which has won four straight games, dominated defensively, holding the Minutemen (3-8-3) to just six shots on goal in each of the first two periods and 19 overall. Wisconsin goalie Scott Gudmandson made 18 saves.

Massachusetts' Jeff Teglia and Paul Dainton combined for 29 stops.
