Free throws lift Edgerton, other scores

Edgerton made 13 of 18 free throws in the fourth quarter to pull away from Central Wisconsin Christian in the second game of the Edgerton tournament.


Brent Samuelsen, Tyler Oren and Tyler Dobratz each made four free throws in the final quarter as the Crimson Tide rolled to a 37-28 victory.


The Crimson Tide (5-4) plays Cambridge in the title game at 7:15 p.m. today. The Bluejays defeated Monticello in the opening game.


Oren led Edgerton with 11 points, while Samuelsen finished with 10.

Palmyra-Eagle tournament

-- Palmyra-Eagle 53, Williams Bay 46—Kevin McGivern had four three-point goals en route to a 16-point game to lead Palmyra-Eagle to its first victory of the season in its holiday tournament.


Dan Meyer added 15 points, and Shane Houk scored 11 for the Panthers (1-6).


Chad Pharris also had four three-point goals as he led Williams Bay with 17 points. Lawrence Crement added 13 for the Bulldogs (1-5).


Palmyra-Eagle plays Belleville today, while Williams Bay plays Johnson Creek. Belleville defeated Johnson Creek, 42-40. Jared Rear led Belleville with 22 points.

Portage tournament

-- Evansville 53, Rio 52—Dylan Erickson scored 18 points and sank a 15-foot jump shot with 10 seconds left to help Evansville win the consolation title of the Portage tournament.


Evansville (4-4) rallied from a 44-38 deficit entering the fourth quarter.


Danny Walczak’s three-pointer with one minute remaining cut the Blue Devils’ deficit to one.


Casey Moseley added 16 points for Evansville.


Josh Selje scored 15 points, including 11 from the free throw line, to lead Rio. Richard Swiggum added 11 points and Brennan Kearney 10.
