Cuba City falls to Brodhead, other scores

Brodhead High School’s girls basketball team pulled a shocker Wednesday night.


Taylor Douglas scored 17 points to lead the Cardinals to a 55-45 win over Cuba City in a semifinal game of Cubans holiday tournament. Cuba City is the defending Division 3 state champion.


Brodhead (3-4) will play River Ridge (Ill.) in the title game tonight.


Carly Mohns added 11 points for Brodhead, which outscored Cuba City 33-26 in the second half.

Milton tournament

-- Sussex Hamilton 54, Milton 43—The Red Hawks lost their first game of the season as they fell in the title game of the Milton Holiday Tournament.


Sussex Hamilton trailed by one at halftime but outscored Milton 31-19 in the second half.


Liz Eide had 10 points to lead the Red Hawks.

-- Cambridge 46, Edgerton 39—Cambridge connected for 15 of its 17 fourth-quarter points from the free throw line to hand Edgewood its first defeat of the season in the title game of the Cambridge tournament.


Trichelle Hoppman scored 19 points and Carley Jeffery had 13 to lead Cambridge.


Edgerton (6-1) was led by Whitney Oren’s game-high 20 points, while Meggie Schmidt added 11.
