Mersberger leads Stoughton victory, other scores

Tessa Mersberger drilled seven three-point goals to help Stoughton take down visiting Whitewater High, 69-65, in nonconference girls basketball Tuesday night.


Mersberger, a sophomore guard, finished with 28 points as the Vikings went to 4-4. Sigrid Arneson had 15 points, and Kayla Rowley added 13 for the winners.


The Whippets (3-2) overcame a 41-32 halftime deficit to take a two-point lead early in the fourth quarter. Brooke Trewyn led Whitewater with 15 points. Julia Shelbourn had 14, and Nicole Masterson added 12.
