Lakeside Lutheran’s sharpshooters got the best of Evansville High’s boys basketball team Tuesday night.


The host Warriors (5-1) hit the Blue Devils (3-3) with 10 three-point goals and a 33-point first quarter as they raced to a 79-64 nonconference victory.


Caleb Gartner scored nine of his 11 points in the first quarter to help Lakeside build a 33-21 lead. Craig Wilke and Sam Kuehl also contributed seven points apiece to that Warrior surge, which included three of Lakeside’s three-point goals.


After that, Lakeside withstood a 28-point performance by Evansville senior Casey Moseley, who had 13 of the Blue Devils’ 30 field goals. Danny Walczak also had 13-point game for Evansville.


Kuehl led Lakeside with 17 points, including three three-pointers. Wilke hit four times from beyond the arc and scored 16 points, while teammate Jake Jarnigo added 15 points, including three three-pointers.
