Sun Prairie stops Parker wrestlers
Janesville Parker’s hopes of repeating as Big Eight Conference dual meet wrestling champions disappeared Friday night.
In a battle of last year’s co-champions, host Sun Prairie used pins in seven weight classes in coasting past Parker, 52-20.
The Vikings (1-1) got four straight wins starting at 112 pounds but could not overcome the Cardinals’ pin points.
“That was the difference in the match,” Parker High co-head coach Andy Tubbs said. “Our wins came without a pin, while most of their wins were by pin. That’s tough to come back from.
“We’re still a little shorthanded, but Sun Prairie was the better team tonight.”
Cody Colson picked up Parker’s only pin of the night at 285. Other Parker winners were Haley Hedgecock at 112; Dai-Von Vance-Jenkins at 119; Adam Cavey at 125 and Brennan Casey-Schmidt at 130.
Parker will wrestle at the Fond du Lac Invitational today.
