— A Janesville man suspected of selling stolen items at local pawnshops faces 10 counts of receiving stolen property.

Police on Tuesday arrested Theron Gates, 25, after weeks of investigation into pawned stolen property.

Lt. Tim Hiers said police were led to Gates after a woman's stolen ring showed up at a local pawn shop. Anyone pawning items is required to fill out an identification form, and detectives traced Gates to other stolen merchandise at pawnshops, Hiers said.

Most of the items—GPS units, jewelry and watches—were stolen from vehicles, according to a news release from the Janesville Police Department. Police also suspect Gates was involved in three residential burglaries on the city's east side.

Police are asking anyone with information about Gates and his connection to the burglaries or thefts to call the police department at (608) 755-3100 or call Janesville Area CrimeStoppers at (608) 756-3636.
