Madison Memorial remains the team to beat in Big Eight Conference boys basketball.


The Spartans, behind 20 points from Junior Lomomba, crushed previously unbeaten Beloit Memorial, 65-44, Thursday night in an early-season battle for first place.


Memorial (4-1, 3-0) led by five at halftime before pushing the lead to 18 after three quarters.


Mike Weston led the Purple Knights (5-1, 4-1) with 12 points.
