Damaschke drops Elkhorn from top, other scores

Austin Damaschke did it all Thursday night for Westosha Central High School’s basketball team.


Damaschke topped off a 23-point performance by converting a three-point play with 1.2 seconds left to give the Falcons a 47-46 win over Elkhorn in a pivotal Southern Lakes Conference game.


The loss dropped Elkhorn (4-2, 2-1) from a tie for the lead, which now belongs to Burlington.


Damaschke was fouled while hitting a 12-foot shot, then added the free throw the winning point. He also had four three-point goals.


Matt Smith led Elkhorn with 12 points, and Ryan Bowes added 10.

-- Burlington 63, Union Grove 49—Burlington jumped out to a quick 10 point first quarter lead and never looked back as the Demons (4-1, 3-0 handed Union Grove (3-1, 2-1) its first Southern Lakes loss and grabbed the undisputed conference lead.


Travis Crayton scored 13 of his game-high 29 points for the Demons in the first quarter. Brett Van Vreede led Union Grove with 22 points.

Waterford opened up a double-digit lead by outscoring the Panthers 16-9 in the third quarter.
