Middleton (3-1, 3-1) used a decisive size advantage in the post in controlling the boards at both ends of the court. The smaller Cougars were forced to play from the perimeter, making six three-point baskets, including four from Brett Pickarts. He was the only Cougar in double figures, finishing with 14 points.

Ian Joyce, a 6-foot-6 center, had 20 points to carry the Cardinals.
