Bluebirds slip past Sun Prairie

— The Janesville Bluebirds got back to .500 on Saturday afternoon.

Mo McCrone’s overtime goal lifted Janesville’s high school co-op team to a 2-1 Big Eight Conference win over Sun Prairie at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.

Janesville (2-2-1, 2-1-1) trailed 1-0 after the first period but tied the game in the second on defenseman Ron Lindgren’s shorthanded goal just 55 seconds into the period. Brad Money picked up an assist on the play.

McCrone got the game-winner with just over a minute remaining in overtime on assists from Dan Addie and Cody Iverson.

Collin Cropp and Tyler Lewis combined to make 16 saves for Janesville.

The Bluebirds peppered Sun Prairie goalie Tyler Patterson all game. Patterson finished with 40 saves.

Janesville host the Madison La Follette/East co-op team in a Big Eight game Tuesday night at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.
