Janesville Parker’s girls gymnastics team opened its season with a Big Eight Conference dual-meet victory at Verona on Thursday night.

The Vikings scored 135.05 points to Verona’s 124.05.

Parker freshman Rylee Jonuska won the all-around, placing among the top four in every event. She tied for second on the vault, was second on the balance beam and floor exercise, and third on the uneven bars.

Senior Erika Whitson won on both the balance beam and floor exercise and finished second in the all-around for Parker.

Hailey Leisten, a freshman, was third in the all-around for the Vikings.

“It was a great season opener,” said Parker coach Cathy Lehman. “There’s always room for improvement, but we’re very proud of our scores and the way people stepped up and competed.”

Parker next competes on Saturday at the Craig Invitational.
