Whitewater women suffer first WIAC loss, Beloit loses

Britta Petersen proved to be a difference-maker in Tuesday night’s WIAC women’s basketball game between UW-Whitewater and UW-Stevens Point.


The 5-foot-11 senior from Luck scored 24 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Pointers to an 83-59 victory over the visiting Warhawks.


Stevens Point led by eight at halftime before pulling away midway through the second half.


Dana Thompson had 19 points for Whitewater (5-2, 2-1), while Kaitlyn Thill added 14.

Beloit (1-5, 0-3), which trailed by six at halftime, got a game-high 19 points from Kandace Fox. Amanda Moore added 13 points for the Buccaneers, who committed 20 turnovers.
