— The Janesville Bluebirds picked up their first victory of the season Tuesday night.

Cody Iverson and Dan Addie scored two goals each to lead Janesville’s high school co-op team to an 8-2 win over Madison West in Big Eight Conference play.

Janesville (1-2-1, 1-1-1) fell behind 1-0 in the first but hit the Regents with five goals in the last seven minutes of the period. Addie tied the score on a power-play goal at 10:09, and Sean MacDougall gave the Bluebirds the lead for good less than a minute later.

“We got the puck to the net, got a lead, and that allowed us to get some different kids and different lines a chance to play together,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said. “That doesn’t always happen when you come to Madison to play.

“I was happy with the way we bounced back after West took the lead. Things worked out well for us tonight.”

MacDougall had a goal and three assists for the Bluebirds, while Tyler Lewis and Collin Cropp made a combined 10 saves in the net.

Janesville will host Sun Prairie on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.
