Craig comeback falls short at La Follette

— Janesville Craig’s late rally fell short in a 59-56 loss to host Madison La Follette in Big Eight Conference boys high school basketball Saturday night.

The Cougars trailed 42-34 after three quarters, but they topped the Lancers 22-17 in the final quarter. Peter Cooney’s three-point basket to tie it at the buzzer rimmed in and out.


Cody Dare scored seven of his 10 points in the fourth quarter, and Brett Pickarts scored five of his 11 points. Myles Johnson scored a game-high 17 points for the Cougars.


Craig fell to 0-2 in the Big Eight and 2-3 overall, while La Follette improved to 1-1 and 1-2.
