Parker swimmers bash East

— Janesville Parker rocked out a 114-56 victory over host Madison East in a Big Eight Conference high school boys swimming dual-meet opener Friday.

The Vikings notched two double winners.


Brandon Jackson won the 200 individual medley in 2 minutes, 18.40 seconds, and the 500 freestyle in 5:30.44. Tommy Dvorak won the the 50 freestyle in 24.10 and the 100 butterfly in 58.67.


“It’s really cool,” Parker coach Eric Rhodes said of the season-opening victory. “It’s awesome.’’


Kyle Amundson added a Parker victory in the 100 freestyle in 56.81 and teammate Nate Sigmund won the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.72. The Vikings won nine of 11 events.


Parker participates in the Cougar Relays at Janesville Craig at 10 a.m. today.

Craig falls


Janesville Craig lost to visiting Verona, 111-59, to open the Big Eight Conference high school boys swimming season Friday.


The Cougars received victories from Alex Loftus in the 200 individual medley (2:01.55) and the 100 breaststroke (1:01.29). Craig also won the 200 medley relay (1:45.51) with Loftus, Nick Krueger, Troy Thornton and Tyler Meinders.


“The 200 (medley relay) is a very good time at this point in the season,” said Craig coach Brian Kitzman. “We are pretty pleased.’’


Craig will host the eight-team Cougar Relays at 10 a.m. today. Craig, Janesville Parker, Brookfield Academy, Elkhorn, Milwaukee Marquette, Menomonee Falls and Monona Grove are scheduled to compete.
