Whitewater’s 3s lead to victory, other scores

Whitewater High hit seven three-point goals en route to downing visiting Delavan-Darien, 64-51, in a nonconference girls basketball opener Tuesday night.


Nicole Masterson made three of the three-pointers and led the Whippets with 19 points. Brooke Trewyn added 15 points, and Julia Shelbourn had 10.


Alana Cesarz led the Comets with 20 points, including two three-pointers.

-- Edgerton 71, Pecatonica 48—Edgerton drilled visiting Pecatonica with a 31-point third quarter to put the Crimson Tide’s nonconference opener out of reach.


The Tide led 25-19 at halftime, then got seven points from Haley Fritz, six from Whitney Oren and five from Jennifer Gimmer in the big third period to make it 56-34.


Gimmer was Edgerton’s game leader with 14 points, and Meggie Schmidt added 12. Firtz and Oren each finished with 10. Pecatonica’s Alisha Esselstein scored 22.
