Beloit Snappers overcome 12 walks in victory over Bees

— The Beloit Snappers rolled to a 7-3 victory over the Burlington Bees in Midwest League baseball Monday night.

In gaining its third straight win over the Bees, Beloit survived 12 walks from its pitching staff. The Bees left 15 runners on base.

Beloit led 5-1 after three innings, scoring twice in the second and three runs in third. The Snappers added a pair of runs in the fifth.

The Snappers had 10 hits, including Josmil Pinto’s two-run triple in the third that gave Beloit the lead for good at 2-1.

Beloit starter Martire Garcia (2-1) allowed two runs on four hits through five innings and survived seven walks to gain the victory.

The Snappers remained one game behind Kane County with seven games remaining in the chase for a wild-card spot in the league playoffs.

Kane County defeated the Milwaukee Brewers’ affiliate, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 4-3, Monday night.

Beloit needs a victory over Burlington tonight for a four-game series sweep. Game time is 7.
