Raptors' season ends
The Milton Junction Pub Raptors were eliminated from the Rock River League playoffs with Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Brownsville.
The Raptors, competing for the first year in the Rock River League, finished 13-9 overall and went 1-2 in the double-elimination playoffs.
“It was a real good season for us,” said Milton manager Doug Welch. “We pretty much proved we belonged. We competed well and made the playoffs. We were the last team standing in the South Division.”
Milton opened the playoffs Aug. 21 with a 5-4 upset victory over previously unbeaten and top-seeded Rubicon, then lost to No. 2 seed Oakfield the next day.
Brownsville, the No. 3 seed in the North Division, took the lead on J.T. Ratlik’s two-run home run in the fifth inning. Brownsville added a run in the seventh.
All three Brownsville runs were unearned.
Joe Shere went the distance for Milton, allowing just five hits.
“Joe pitched a real good game,” Welch said. “Only one of their hits was hit hard, and that came with two outs.”
