WCLO's Steve Benton reports on the Janesville Fire Department's water rescue of two golden labrador retrievers

RSS

— Janesville firefighters used their rubber inflatable boat to rescue two golden labrador retrievers from the Rock River Monday morning.

Acting Captain John McManus says the dogs, "Hunter" and "Brittany" escaped their owner, Raymond Huntoon, while he was taking out the trash. He told firefighters the dogs always seem to know when they're going to the vet and "don't like it."

Once the dogs were in the river, they couldn't get out because of the shear cement walls throughout the downtown area.

McManus says by the time firefighters got to the dogs, they were both pretty tired.
