Hammon leads Milton's outburst; Fort, Monroe fall

Nate Hammon showed why he is expected to put up big passing numbers again this season.


The Milton High senior quarterback completed 25 of 31 passes for 305 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for three more touchdowns as Milton High’s football team scored 21 fourth-quarter points to beat host Sauk Prairie, 50-32, in a nonconferfence opener Friday night.


Hammon ran for 30 yards to finish with 335 total yards of offense.


Junior Riley Kovars was his favorite target. Kovars caught seven passes for 169 yards, including a 55-yard TD.

Leo Musso ran 10 times for 78 yards for two TDs and also threw an option pass for a 30-yard score. Austin Maly caught three passes for 56 yards and touchdowns covering 20 and 25 yards. Quarterback Hunter Darger completed all five of his passes for 70 yards and two scores.

Nathan Butler returned a pass interception 45 yards for a touchdown to seal the victory for DeForest.

Chase Lewis gave Monona Grove the lead with a 1-yard touchdown run with 7:11 left in the first quarter. Rauch followed with a 56-yard scoring pass to Zach Zweifel with 11:51 left in the second period, and Logan Twing wrapped it up with a 28-yard field goal at the 8:59 mark of the third quarter.


Zweifel had four receptions for 130 yards, and Reedsburg’s Chad Mazur rusherd 16 tomes for 118 yards.
