Teresa wins playoff

— Veteran state club professional Ed Teresa triumphed in a three-man playoff to win his third and the 90th Wisconsin State Open golf tournament Wednesday at The Legend at Bristlecone.

Teresa, 50, the head professional at North Shore Country Club in Menomonee Falls, topped defending champion Dan Woltman, 23, of Beaver Dam and Charlie Delsman, 25, of Colgate. Each finished the 36-hole finale at 273.

Janesville amateur Matt Behm finished in 42nd place at 294 with rounds of 76 and 74. Miltonís Kirk Weiland finished at 290 after rounds of 68 and 80.

Owen Butler, a former Milton High School golfer, marked rounds for 74 and 73 for a 287 finish. Mark Voeller, a former Whitewater High School standout, posted rounds of 72 and 70 for a 283 finish.

Teresa shot two rounds of 71, while Woltman went 69-73 and Delsman carded 71-69. Teresa won in impressive fashion with a par on the first hole of the sudden-death playoff.

Terasa started the final round two strokes behind Woltman. Delsman, 25, went into the final round four shots behind Woltman but made a clutch birdie on the 71st hole to get into the playoff.
