— The Milton police department is expanding their "Citizen's Police Academy" by developing a program called Volunteers in Policing (VIP).

Chief Jerry Schuetz says it's another way to reach out to the community and find ways to accomplish tasks with volunteers.

Schuetz says the range of tasks is wide from office filing to "running radar" and traffic control. Applicants will be subject to selection interviews and a criminal background check. Successful candidates will be issued a VIP program polo shirt to use while volunteering for identification purposes.

Interested persons can call the police department, e-mail the police department, or contact the police department through their facebook page.
