Robins win WBCBL title
MIAMI The Rock County Robins are national champions.
Thanks to 15 points, nine rebounds and three steals from Jeana Hoffman, the Robins rallied to beat Gulf Coast Storm, 71-67 in overtime, in the title game of the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League championship game here Sunday.
The first-year Robins won their semifinal game, 65-60, over the host Miami Rain and finished the two-day tournament with a 3-0 record.
Former Beloit Memorial High School players Jennifer Pozzani and Tiffany Morton combined for 24 points and 14 rebounds in the title game. The Robins trailed 39-28 at half but outscored their opponent, 31-20, in the second half to force overtime.
Hoffman had 11 points and 11 rebounds in the semifinal win. Rock County never trailed in the game, leading 37-32 at halftime.
