The Rock County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal motorcycle accident near Clinton late Friday afternoon.

Authorities report a car driven by 24-year-old Tyler Kurth of Harvard, Illinois stopped at a stop sign on Highway 67 and proceeded into the intersection of Highway 140. A motorcycle driven by 43-year-old Frederick Pickert of Belvidere, Illinois hit the Kurth vehicle on the passenger side. Pickert, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead about an hour later.

Authorities say the motorcycle left almost 400 feet of skid marks, and speed is determined to be a contributing factor in the crash.
