Beloit men arrested for burglaries, thefts

— Police arrested two Beloit men early Sunday morning in connection with several thefts and burglaries on the city’s east side.

Arrested were Kyle D. Atwood, 31, no fixed address, Beloit, and Larry R. Gee Jr., 32, 510 St. Lawrence Ave., Beloit, according to a press release from the Janesville Police Department.

While on patrol around 3 a.m. Sunday, officer Brad Rau saw two men flee on foot when they saw his squad car in the area of North Wright Road and Sandhill Drive, police said.

A short time later, police caught Atwood then Gee, who was hiding in the backyards in the 3700 block of Sandhill Drive, police said. Gee’s vehicle was found parked on Sandhill Drive, and inside police reported finding numerous stolen items.

Atwood was arrested on three counts of burglary, nine counts of theft, five counts of criminal damage to property, one count of resisting and on a warrant.

Gee was arrested on three counts of party to burglary, nine counts party to theft, five counts of party to criminal damage to property and one count of resisting.

Gee and Atwood are suspected in at least 10 thefts from vehicles and burglaries to garages Saturday night into early Sunday morning, according to police.

Both men are in custody at the Rock County Jail.
