— Dave Wiederrecht has resigned as UW-Whitewater women's track and field head coach.

Wiederrecht held the position since 2005 and continued a tradition that kept the Warhawks in contention at the conference and national levels.

"We were able to achieve a lot of the goals that I set," Wiederrecht said. "The coaching staff is great, and they will continue on being successful."

Athletic director Dr. Paul Plinske his department will move promptly to fill Wiederrecht's position.

Wiederrecht coached six athletes to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles in 10 events. His athletes earned All-America honors five times.

Dana Thompson and Brooke Bell won national titles in the discus and 200-meter dash, respectively. Wiederrecht led his team to a 36th-place finish in the 2006 indoor national championships and 16th place in the 2009 outdoor championships.
