Snappers manage just five hits in loss

— The Cedar Rapids Kernels defeated the Beloit Snappers, 5-1, in the finale of a four-game series in Midwest League baseball Tuesday.

A pair of Kernels' pitchers combined to hold the Snappers to five hits. The Kernels ripped three Beloit pitchers for 10 hits.

Daniel Rams' hit his 13th homer—a solo shot in the second inning—for the Snappers lone run.

Beloit starter Edgar Ibarra (6-8) allowed all five Kernals runs on eight hits in the first five innings for the loss.

The Snappers travel to open a three-game series at Peoria. Ill., at 7 tonight.
