Snappers' bats grow silent in Cedar Rapids

— The Beloit Snappers were held to three hits enroute to a 5-2 loss to the host Cedar Rapids Kernels in Midwest League baseball Monday afternoon.

Three Kernels’ pitchers combined on the three-hitter. The Snappers suffered seven strikeouts and drew two walks.

Wang Wei Lin ripped a two-run double in the sixth inning for the Snappers’ only runs.

Meanwhile, the Kernels pounded three Snappers’ pitchers for 10 hits, including a pair of doubles and a solo home run.

Beloit starter Tom Stuibergen (5-1) allowed four runs on seven hits through 4 2/3 innings to suffer his first loss.

The Snappers close their road series with the Kernels at 6:35 this evening.
