The City of Janesville's decision, not to budget for a special bulky waste pick-up this fall in the Fourth Ward and Look West neighborhoods, may leave some residents with few options to remove large items.
City Neighborhood Development Specialist Kelly Lee says the effort worked well the last two years.
Residents are now being remined they will need to find a way to haul their large items to the sanitary landfill on Black Bridge Road.

Fourth Ward residents knew about this many months ago. Using city staff on a Saturday meant time and a half pay. The decision was made to save taxpayers dollars. Originally when this idea was started, it was all volunteer people and trucks hauling away debris. I bet they could do it again this way if enough neighborhood people and businesses stepped up, and it could be done in any neighborhood in the city. Anyone? Anyone?

Isn't this interesting right after the city council imposes a $40 fee increase to pick up waste. I can see already that we are getting our money's worth. Sure wish I could impose a "fee" on someone when I can't meet expenses.

If anyone in the 4th Ward/Look West neighborhoods read this, send me a message. I may be able to help you with transporting these items.

There's that lib government working for you! Always looking out for the poor aren't they? Giving them help to make their daily grind easier...
Yep, many of the people living in the 4th ward have heavy duty pickup trucks to haul this stuff over to the dump. I bet they're still hauling appliances over on the North Side!
