— A 12-year-old boy is injured in a shooting incident in Beloit.

Beloit police are investigating the shooting, which was called in around 11:00 Wednesday night as a "shots fired" call. Police were called to a house in the 1400 block of Dewey Avenue and say a 31-year-old male suspect reportedly fired a hand gun at an intended victim but hit the child instead.

The injury is not believed to be life threatening.

The suspect is being held at the Rock County Jail on a charge of injury by negligent use of a weapon pending an initial appearance in Rock County Court.
