— A family source told the Biloxi Sun Herald on Tuesday afternoon that Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre has not made a decision regarding a 20th season in the NFL.

“Brett has not made a commitment to play or a decision to return at this point,” the family source said.

Neither Favre, nor his agent Bus Cook, nor Vikings coach Brad Childress has commented on the news that broke earlier Tuesday that a source said Favre informed the team he would retire.

Childress said at a press conference after training camp practice that until he “heard it from the horse’s mouth” he wouldn’t believe the rumors.

A couple of comments on Scott Favre’s Facebook page have not been responded to by the quarterback’s brother, who did tell the Sun Herald he has not heard from Brett, either.

“I have heard no truth to that (retirement),” Scott Favre said. “I know he can still play and I want him to keep playing.”
