Raptors earn critical win
Shere scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th on Francisco Roque’s RBI single and also picked up the win in relief as Milton squeaked past Neosho, 4-3.
With the win, Milton improved to 8-7 in the Rock River League and tied for fourth place with Neosho (8-7). The top four teams qualify for the playoffs, and Milton now owns the tiebreaker over Neosho.
“This was a really big win for us,” Milton coach Doug Welch said. “Now we control our own destiny as far as the playoffs go. And making the playoffs was our No. 1 goal this season.
“I can’t say enough about the job our pitchers did today. Tom Klawitter gave us three shutout innings in his first work since the fourth game of the season, Brett Fredricks was solid, and Joe shut them down when we really needed it.”
Milton is at Johnson Creek on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
