— Calling it a ‘pretty boring’ round of golf Sunday, Brooke Ferrell cruised to the Women’s Rock County Championship title at Riverside Golf Course.

After blistering the Riverside course with a record 7-under par 64 in Saturday’s first round, Ferrell fired a 2-over 73 on Sunday to win the Championship Flight by nine shots over C.J. Enriquez.

“I wanted to stay right around par, and I did that until the last couple of holes,” Ferrell said. “I knew that Saturday was one of those magical rounds that don’t happen very often, so I wasn’t expecting anything like that today. Sunday.

“I made par on every hole on the front nine, birdied No. 10, but then three-putted the next hole. I just couldn’t get anything going like I did Saturday.”

Ferrell, who will be a sophomore at Edgerton High School, is taking the rest of the summer off. Her next tournament will be the Edgewood Invitational during the high school season.

“This was a great way to end the summer as far as golf goes,” Ferrell said. “I played pretty well all summer long, and that has got me excited about the high-school season.”

Enriquez also shot 73 on Sunday, while Holly La Chance fired a 75 in the second round to finish third.

Theresa Borkenhagen won the First Flight by 13 shots over Mary Conway, while Nancy Furlano was third.
