— A poor start led to Janesville Parker’s baseball team’s fourth straight loss Thursday afternoon.

Middleton (7-2, 7-2) had a 10-0 lead after three innings and coasted to a 12-2 Big Eight Conference win in a game that was called after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Parker (4-6, 3-6) has been outscored 23-3 in losing two conference games this week.

“You can’t get afford to get behind early against a team like Middleton,” Parker coach Brian Martin said.

“Tyler (Teubert) was having some control problems early on, and when you give Middleton extra base-runners, they make you pay for it.”

The Vikings trailed 10-0 in the fourth before Teubert drove in two runs with a double.

Parker will play a nonconference game at Oconomowoc today.

“That’s about the only good thing about this game,” Martin said of the Middleton loss. “We don’t have much time to think about it because we’ve got to come right back and play tomorrow.

“Hopefully, we can get back on the winning track.”
