— Paige Weber held Madison Memorial to two hits to lead visiting Janesville Craig to a 7-0 victory in Big Eight Conference softball here Monday.

“Paige was in control the whole game,” Craig coach Dan Bayreuther said. “She never got behind (the hitters) and did a great job.’’

Weber, a sophomore, who made just one other start against Verona last Saturday, notched seven strikeouts and did not issue a walk.

Craig scored single runs in the first and second innings on three hits off the Spartans’ Rachel DeJongh. The Cougars scored five runs in the seventh to seal the victory.

Haley Bayreuther smacked a two-run single, Stephanie Perleberg ripped a two-run double and Leigh Grall hit an RBI double to close Craig’s scoring.

Craig will host Sun Prairie this afternoon at Dawson Ball Field.
