Janesville Craig gains first Big Eight golf victory

— Janesville Craig High School split a Big Eight Conference boys golf meet Monday.

The Cougars carded a 320 to top Madison West (339) for their first Big Eight victory, while Beloit Memorial posted a 314 to sweep the match. Craig is 1-3 in the Big Eight.

Greg Ruef carded a 77 to lead Craig. Ross Peterson and Tanner Woodman carded 79 each and Jordan Moss added an 85. Beloit’s Ethan Dahlberg carded a 3-over 74 for medalist honors.

Craig will participate in the Beloit Invitational on Friday.

Sun Prairie wins triangular

Sun Prairie fired a 313 team total to defeat host Madison Memorial by six strokes in a Big Eight triangular at Hawks Landing. Janesville Parker was a distant third with 379.

Memorial’s Quinn Moe was the medalist with a 2-under 70.

Peyton Graham led the Vikings with a 90, while Dustin Richards had a 93, Taylor Braun 97 and Tyler Brossard 99.

Parker will compete on Friday at the Beloit Invitational.
