Janesville Craig nets victory over Purple Knights
Craig split the four singles matches but swept the doubles play for the victory over the Purple Knights.
“Our inexperienced doubles teams came through for us,” Craig coach Justin Long said. “We mixed and matched and found some good combinations.”
Perry Campbell and Mo McCrone, Cody Lipetri and Zach Hardin, and Matt Hayden and Katsumi Neeno won doubles matches for Craig.
Craig will host Madison
La Follette next Tuesday.

East sweeps Parker
Madison East is one of the top boys tennis teams in the Big Eight Conference, and the Purgolders proved it against Janesville Parker on Tuesday. East won on the Vikings’ courts, 7-0.
“East is a very quality team,” said Parker coach Mike Fuhrman. “The scores aren’t quite indicative of the improvement the guys made since last week against Beloit.”
Fuhrman praised the play of No. 1 singles player Matt Knutson, who lost to Stratton Gilmore, 6-2, 6-1.
“Stratton is a top-five, top-10 player in the state,” Fuhrman said. “Matt played him very, very well. The kid had to work for all his points.”
Fuhrman also was encouraged by the play of No. 1 doubles team of Craig Spangler and Codi Papcke.
