Road construction zones can be a dangerous place for motorists and workers alike.

As part of Work Zone Awareness Week in Wisconsin, Rock County Director of Public Works Ben Coopman wants to get the word out about the need for conscientious driving. He says some motorists consider work zones an inconvenience, while they are a necessity. Coopman urges motorists to pay attention to construction zone warning signs.

The Department of Transportation reports on average, Wisconsin suffers almost 1700 crashes a year in work zones, with 850 people injured, and 14 killed.
